Meet Lynda.

Mayor Pro-Tem. Lynda Nash has been working tirelessly for all Harker Heights citizens since 2021.

Lynda Nash made history in December 2020 as the first Black woman elected to the Harker Heights City Council. A Harker Heights resident for nearly 24 years, she brings longtime local commitment and deep public-service experience to her role.

A veteran who served more than 20 years in the United States Army, Lynda is also retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs. She was born in Syracuse, New York, raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and is a proud graduate of Troy State University.

Lynda serves as a Commissioner for the Harker Heights Arts Council, sits on the Board of Directors of the Armed Forces YMCA, and is a chartered member of VFW Post 12209. She is a community activist focused on youth, the elderly, and the disenfranchised, a serial entrepreneur and philanthropist, and a member of numerous organizations including the Killeen NAACP, Women’s Army Corps (WAC) groups, Harker Heights Lions Club, Innovation Black Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, DAV 29, and the American Legion.

She is the proud mother of three children—Tanesha, Viktoria, and Dreylynn—and one grandson, Tatum Lynnue, who all call Bell County home.
